Childcare Costs now make it Unaffordable For Most Mums To Return To Work ~ What’s On 4 have a Brand New Solution…!

May 1, 2013

Two UK Business ladies have joined forces to bring brand new work-from-home business with the Award Winning “junior” What’s On 4 websites and Baby Expo Events www.babyexpobabyshow.co.uk, www.whatson4littleones.co.uk, www.whatson4schoolkids.co.uk and www.whatson4kidsparties.co.uk

With recent news of childcare costs being prohibitive to mothers being able to go out to work, it will be welcome news to many mums that What’s On 4 have now launched their regional businesses for mums to work-from-home!  The opportunities are ideal for mums looking to get back into work and running a business from home.

Marilyn Bradshaw and Bev O’Sullivan are leading the way in creating flexible working opportunities for mums across the UK by expanding the very successful What’s On 4 brand of websites!

Our family of What’s On 4 websites has been bringing information about local activities, clubs, classes and events, catering for all age groups from newborns to over-60’s, for over seven years now, since their creation by What’s On 4 founder Sam Willoughby.

Now with over 75,000 visitors each month to our What’s On 4 sites, over 50,000 subscribers, and over 50,000 social media fans, these websites are immensely popular with adults, parents, grandparents and carers.  What’s more is that these businesses are about to be launched as regional businesses across the UK.

As working mums themselves, Marilyn and Bev understand the need for home-based business opportunities and this is a major driving force for them.  Marilyn has two boys under the age of six and in the past 2 years has already taken the UK by storm with What’s On 4 Me (www.whatson4me.co.uk) – the adult “arm” of the websites.  As Master Franchisee she has provided many mums with part-time, flexible working opportunities.

Marilyn says “Being a mum and running a National business from home is the most perfect combination I could imagine.  Having already developed 12 local business owners across the UK for What’s On 4 Me I am completely driven to do the same for our What’s On 4 “Juniors” business. These opportunities give the flexible working arrangement that many families need these days.”

Joining forces with Bev O’Sullivan, mum of three children under 10, means that they can quickly expand the “Junior” websites www.whatson4littleones.co.uk, www.whatson4schoolkids.co.uk and www.whatson4kidsparties.co.uk, including the extremely successful and popular BabyExpo Events www.babyexpobabyshow.co.uk to create these desperately needed work-from-home opportunities.

Bev says “Since coming on board with the What’s On 4 Team by running South Yorkshire What’s On 4 Me, my work life balance has changed dramatically for the better.  To now be able to run the children’s side of the business of What’s On 4 gives me the unique ability to also offer this lifestyle to others – and run a successful business.”

Marilyn and Bev have a wealth of business accolades between them including Awards for Best New Business Idea, North East Woman Entrepreneur Finalist and Best Brand Winner to name just a handful.

What’s On 4 “Juniors” will benefit from their combined entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen and drive the growth of the What’s On 4 family of websites across the UK – creating dozens of flexible work positions all across the UK.

Interest has already been registered for many of the local What’s On 4 business regions and discussions are underway with potential candidates.

Concern as nearly 40% of mums dread school holidays due to childcare and work issues

July 29, 2012

Marilyn Bradshaw, from What’s On 4 Me, reports on the shock findings of a recent mums survey

It’s not often that news reports prompt me to blog  – however a recent survey reported that 40% out of 2000 mums surveyed are dreading the Summer Holidays and “the extra childcare and juggling it around work” was named as the biggest issue for 48% of those.

Babyworld.co.uk summarised the key findings of their recent survey and report that:

“Four in ten mums are dreading the school summer holidays…Difficulties juggling work and childcare…mean millions of mums aren’t looking forward to the break from school at all.

Mums worry about the months of July and August in particular because they have to rely on friends and family to look after their children…Other concerns include having to return to a mounting workload after taking time off with children.

Half of the 2,000 working mums polled even admitted to reaching a point after three weeks and three days where they actually start looking forward to their children returning to school.

The study also revealed that 40% are dreading the start of the school holidays, with the extra childcare and juggling it around work named as the biggest issue for 48% of those.

More than a third even said they still haven’t got childcare arranged for the full six weeks…and 17% hate the fact they’ll eventually have to call on friends and relatives to look after their children so they can continue going to work.”

This is of great concern to me, because I’m a working mum and, in contrast to 40% of other mums, I have been looking forward to this summer’s six-week holidays so that I can quality spend time with my two boys who are six and three year old.

I’ve been looking forward to it so much that I’ve even invited my seven year old niece to stay with us for the holidays too, so that she can join in with the fun alongside my two boys.

The reason that I can work flexibly and that I’m looking forward to the holidays is that I work from home. I manage my business around my life.  My business, What’s On 4 Me gives me the flexibility to do that.

I’m not taking any time off work and I’m not reducing my work hours, I’m simply working flexibly.  So, I was amazed that such a high proportion of mums do not have a flexible work arrangement – especially when many jobs and businesses can be managed from home.

If this is YOU – if you are one of the four in ten mums that dread school holidays – then take a look at our What’s On 4 Me work-from-home opportunities.  They may not be for you – but they could be?

We have both business and employment opportunities – take a look here.

Joining our What’s On 4 Team and start preparing for the next holidays – in October.  The majority of our UK team are work-from-home mums, so we know What’s On 4 Me works.  How wonderful would it be for you to spend every school holiday with your children?

Please feel free to share this via Social Media or Email this to friends and family who might need a helping hand to reduce their dread of the school holidays.

Come on mums, start looking forward to your kid’s school holidays and spending quality time with them!

Introducing Carol Fry – Owner of Central Manchester What’s On 4 Me

January 10, 2012

Introducing Our Newest Franchisee – Carol Fry

My name is Carol Fry, I am the franchisee for What’s on 4 Me in Central Manchester and Stockport. I live with my partner and our three children in Heaton Mersey. Between us we dabble in karate, rugby, football, gymnastics, music, chess and rounders and we’re always on the look-out for our next challenge. (I’ve got my eye on a Tabata class at my local sports centre which should complement my karate training nicely).

Up until very recently I worked for the Ministry of Justice as a court clerk in the crown court. I decided to take on the challenge of What’s On 4 Me in Stockport and Manchester in order to have a career that allowed me to work from home and have a better work life balance.

At the moment I’m diverting all my energy and spare time into training for my next grading in December 2011 when I’m hoping to earn my brown belt in Shukokai Karate. One of my goals in life is to achieve and then maintain a good level of fitness and flexibility. Up to now I hoped to achieve this by working towards attaining ‘the coveted black belt’. However, since taking on my local What’s On 4 Me I’ve come across so many different activities and classes that I want to try that I’m not sure how I’ll be able to fit it all in. I think I may have tipped the balance too far the other way!

Nottinghamshire What’s On 4 Me is here!!

What’s On 4 Me introduces our latest region and owner, Heather Carroll

“Hi, I’m Heather, the What’s On 4 Me NOTTINGHAMSHIRE Franchisee and it is my mission to bring you all of the local activities, classes and events that are happening around the region.

I’m a single mum, with a beautiful (and headstrong!) 8 year old daughter. When I’m not operating “mum’s taxi” to ferry her to her many clubs and activities, or running three businesses from home, I still try to find some “me” time to meet new people and do the things I enjoy. I love the theatre and am involved in amateur dramatics and I have recently rediscovered Modern Jive dancing, which is very addictive!

Finding local activities and events you would like to take part in can often be difficult and time consuming and this is what inspired me to take on the Nottinghamshire What’s On 4 Me site.

This brand new website from the What’s On 4 family is dedicated to adults of all ages, from all walks of life, with interests as diverse as you can imagine. The website quickly shows the classes, groups, activities and events in NOTTINGHAMSHIRE that YOU can be involved with. Now there’s no excuse not to have a fantastic social life!!

So, why not do a search and find out what you can join in with! You may be very surprised to see What’s On 4 You!

I really hope you enjoy using the site as much as we do and if like me you would like to work from home, have a strong Telesales background and want to create a better work / life balance, then please email me for our list of work-from-home Telesales opportunities.”

Wow what a 6 months it’s been!!

April 13, 2011

Wow what a 6 months it’s been!!

If you asked me this time last year where my life would be now, I think I’d have probably said I’d be doing the same old job, with the same old people, and doing the same old things in my spare time. In short, I was BORED!! I was looking for a new challenge and a chance to get more involved in my local community.

When I discovered What’s On 4 Me last Autumn I became really excited by the possibilities and realised it was exactly what I was looking for. It was a chance to run my own business putting all my experience into a venture I felt passionate about and a chance to work with some fabulous and inspirational women.

When I signed the franchise contract for What’s On 4 Me Bristol & Somerset on 1 November 2010 it was one of the best moments of my life, and I had no idea at that time, that I was going to experience many more highlights over the next few months!! Don’t get me wrong, it’s been hard work, with mistakes made and lessons learnt along the way but now that the site is firmly established in the local community, with visitor and advertiser numbers increasing every day, I have never enjoyed “work” so much!

I’ve lived in Bath since September 2000 and I thought I knew the Bristol & Somerset region well. How wrong I was!!! There is so much more to do in our region than I thought possible!! One night you could be at an adult learning class getting help with developing your first novel, the next you could be learning how to Tribal Bellydance, and at the weekend you could be heading to a Medieval Banquet!!

What’s On 4 Me is giving me a whole new world to discover and the best bit is, it’s all right on my doorstep!

Diane Francis (Bristol & Somerset What’s On 4 Me)

More Celebrations!!

November 19, 2010

What’s On 4 Me claimed the EDBS Celebration of Enterprise Award for “Best Brand” on Wednesday 17th November!  The momentus occasion celebrated new enterprises in the region and What’s On 4 Me has only been live for 3 months yet claimed the huge accolade!

This “Best Brand” Award is testament to the strength of the What’s On 4 Range and the efforts of everyone in the What’s On 4 Me Team who have worked tirlessly to bring our website of classes, clubs, activities and events to the UK.  After launching in County Durham and more recently in Bristol and Somerset, this accolade deservedly rewards the Team for such a fantastic effort!

And, that’s not all! In addition to our award, Sam Willoughby owner of the What’s On 4 Range, received the National Award for Best E-Business at the Inspire10 Awards last night!

What a fantastic week for achievment for us all! Well done to Sam and everybody in the our Team!!

The County Durham What’s On 4 Team

August 12, 2010

The What’s On 4 Me Team in County Durham is now assembled and taking activity listings by the dozen.  Meet our team…

Anne Collins

Joanna Mulaka

Kym Dalziel

I was absolutely stunned that by the middle of Week 2 we had crossed the 200 listings line!  This is incredible and shows just how well our team is working and it gives a glimmer of just how popular the site is going to be!!

Trending like this will mean that we cross the 1000 listings in 2 months time!  Watch this space!!

We’re LIVE!!

July 30, 2010

Well what a week it’s been! The What’s On 4 Me website went LIVE on Monday this week and it’s taken off with an absolute bang!

The local community organisers and businesses are lining up to list and already we have 100+ listings on the County Durham launch site! We have activities listed from all of the local councils; Durham, Darlington, Hartlepool and the phone is ringing and emails flooding in daily already!

It’s brilliant to be able to offer the service, to help people in the Durham County find out what’s going on – because we all know how difficult it is to find out what’s on. I mean as soon as something goes into to print its out-of-date, so I’m thrilled to be able offer such an ingenious website that brings up to the minute information for everybody who wants to get active!

How many times have I and you turned up to a class or event and it’s been cancelled or the times have changed? Well, because all of the activity listers have 24/7/365 access to alter their information, should changes happen, the information on the site is completely accurate!

I have to say, this is just brilliant to be involved with and I’m glad such a variety of activities are being listed in the numbers they are – and it’s only the first week!!!

Roll on next week! I can’t wait!!
