Ideal Weight – What’s On 4 Me 2013 Headline Sponsor

Ideal Weight

What’s On 4 Me 2013 Headline Sponsor

Ideal_weight_120x120At Ideal Weight we see things differently. We believe that losing weight isn’t the hardest part – it’s keeping it off that’s tricky. That’s why learning the skills for long term weight management is at the heart of what we offer.

Unlike most weight loss plans, we don’t believe ‘one size fits all’. Your ideal weight is personal to you, and only you should decide what it is. We offer a range of eating plans to kick start your weight loss journey combined with weekly weight management sessions with one of our Ideal Weight coaches.  This means that when you reach your ideal weight you’ll have all the tools and skills you’ll need to stay there.

We use the Body Mass Index to accurately measure if you are overweight or obese and your Ideal Weight coach will use this calculation to help you choose which of our plans is suitable for you. The Body Mass Index calculation is a basic and widely accepted way to measure if you’re overweight or obese. Medical professionals use BMI to assess health risks. For example, the higher your BMI the higher your risk of certain diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems and some cancers.

We know the only way to successfully maintain your ideal weight once you’ve reached it, is to change your relationship with food. Our coaches are trained weight management experts who’ll not only support and listen to you through the usual ups and downs of your weight loss journey, but more importantly, they are there to help you build a positive relationship with food for the future.

Weight Loss Plans

IdealWeight

Our range of weight loss plans have been developed to fit in with your lifestyle. Ideal Weight offer three eating plans to help you kick start your weight loss journey. On the 4 Plan, all your meals are replaced with four nutrition packs a day and you will have a daily milk allowance. Because this is a very low calorie eating plan and your long-term health is important to us, not everyone who comes to us can do the 4 Plan, and those who are able to, can only stay on this plan for a maximum of eight weeks. Your coach will discuss whether this is an option for you.

The 3 Plan and 2 Plan consist of nutrition packs (you can choose from our range of delicious shakes, soups, meals and bars which are all suitable for vegetarians), plus meals which you’ll prepare for yourself from our list of every day food options, which includes a daily fruit and milk allowance. Using this you’ll be able to prepare yourself meals like creamy salmon, pork stir-fry, curries and casseroles.

You’ll have a weekly session with your Ideal Weight coach to have a better understanding of why you have gained weight in the past and what behavioural changes you can make to manage your weight better in the future.

Maintaining your Ideal Weight

Once you’ve lost weight and are close to your ideal weight, you’ll have already started putting into practise the skills you’ll need to help you maintain your weight in the future. When you reach this stage your coach will introduce you to our weight management eating plans. The 1 Plan is the first step towards weight maintenance. This plan includes one nutrition pack a day alongside three meals which you’ll prepare for yourself from an extended list of every day foods, plus you will still continue to attend your weekly session with your Ideal Weight coach.

Once you’ve finished the 1 Plan, and are ready to start maintaining your ideal weight, you’ll start experimenting with food choices, portion sizes and new recipes, and fully put to use all the new skills you developed during your weight loss phase. And of course, the support of your coach and group will also continue throughout this time.

Ideal Weight Coaches

Our coaches are at the heart of Ideal Weight, so finding the right people to work with us is crucial to our success. We recruit people from all backgrounds, however, there’s one common thread – you must have excellent people skills and empathy. We recruit against a competency framework to ensure that all Ideal Weight coaches offer the best possible service to our clients. If you think you have the skills to help our clients reach their ideal weight and stay there, contact us now, we’d love to hear from you!

What’s On 4 Me 2013 Awards Nominee – Kev’s Klub, Hartlepool, Co Durham

August 21, 2013

All Awards nominees are given the opportunity to showcase their great work on our Blog.  So, remember to Sign up for our Blog to hear news of other nominees coming shortly!

(To add your blog – email info@whatson4me.co.uk)

Kev’s Klub was established in September 2005 by Project Managers Kevin and Allison McLean.  Kev’s Klub is a non-profit organisation that has been running for over seven years. They help young people over 17 years old with special needs, and their family members and carers. They give advice on practical things such as healthy eating, benefits and lifestyle choices, as well as fun, social and educational activities.

Hello my name is Allison, me and my husband Kevin have both worked in the care sector since 1999 giving us a good insight into what we think clients and carer’s need to socialise.

Kev's KlubKevin is a full time Senior Social Care Support Worker for a large Care company which is based all over the UK, with an office based in Hartlepool. Kevin is a father of 4 and grandfather to 4 wonderful children. I used to be an Activities Coordinator in an Elderly Residential Home in the town, but I had to retire due to a mobility disability. I am a mother of 2 so now have 6 between us; so as you can imagine Christmas is very busy. We live locally with my youngest daughter and Tilly the daft dog border collie.

Kev’s Klub was born through a lack of things to do on a Evening in Hartlepool.  We got the idea of a club because we felt there is very little to do in Hartlepool on a budget. Kev’s Klub is not a club to do things but a club to socialise and relax.

Kev’s Klub is Self Sufficient none profit voluntary group that does not rely on funding, we are not backed by any governing group or company, all monies raised each week goes back into the club the following week.

The centre is disabled friendly with facilities on ground level and a disabled toilet. Activities now include a variety of things to do for instance we have indoor bowls, pool, bingo, table games, dominoes, art and crafts.

You can either come along on your own or with your carer depending on your needs.

We offer all our carers the chance to relax by giving them free access to a Reiki session from a fully qualified Reili Master.

We open 1 night a week every Wednesday 6pm-9pm based in a small community centre within Hartlepool.

We recently won an Community Achievement Award – from our local Housing Group called Vela. We were totally over whelmed by this award to know that after 7 years we are finally been recognised within the community. The nominations were for a single person or group who go beyond the call of duty in helping others, whether that be the young, old or disabled people or who have improved the area in which they live

To find out that we have been nominated for a What’s On 4 Me Award is just so amazing, and that we have made it into the Voting stage is just so wonderful.  To think people actually believe in our little club is just out of this world! We would like to thank everyone for voting for us so far and wish that after reading my little story others will feel the need to vote for us too………

We have been nominated in 3 catergories

1) Best Community Fund Raising Group or Charity Group

2) Best Relaxation, Retreat or Getaway Provider

3) Best Socialising, Networking or Support Group

To vote for Kev’s Klub please visit the What’s On 4 Me Awards website and click the Voting Link.

Live Life With Minerals

A recent report in the Daily Mail stated that an apple a day is not as good as it used to be.

Fruit and vegetables are being gradually stripped of the natural goodness which makes them beneficial for health, experts have found.

An alarming drop in essential minerals means that the apples and greens of today are nowhere near as good for us as those eaten 50 years ago.

Some fruits are also becoming sweeter than they were during the last century, leading to fears about tooth decay and obesity.

Nutrients needed to help the body and immune system work properly, balance hormones and produce vital blood cells are dwindling across a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, it emerged.

Five a day

Government health advice is to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day to help maintain health and possibly avoid some cancers.
